Bangladesh’s star all-rounder, Shakib Al Hasan, has received clearance to bowl again in all formats after successfully passing his third bowling action assessment in England.

Shakib had previously failed bowling action tests in both England and Chennai, which led him to work extensively with Surrey’s head coach, Gareth Batty, over the past few weeks to correct his action.

Following rigorous training sessions, Shakib underwent another assessment in England and cleared it on his third attempt. This clearance allows him to bowl in both domestic and international cricket, as confirmed by a reliable source to Cricbuzz.

What Lead To Shakib Al Hasan’s Ban?

Shakib’s action came under scrutiny during a County Championship match for Surrey against Somerset in September 2024. An independent assessment found his action illegal, prompting the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) to impose a suspension.

Shakib has been absent from international cricket since Bangladesh’s Test series against India between September and October 2024. His last ODI appearance was during the 2023 World Cup, and his most recent international outing was in the two-Test series against India.

Additionally, Shakib was unable to return home after the India series due to widespread student protests in Bangladesh. With this clearance, the seasoned all-rounder is now set to return to competitive cricket.
