KL Rahul to Skip DC’s First Two IPL 2025 Games for Personal Reasons

KL Rahul is expected to miss Delhi Capitals’ first two IPL 2025 matches as he awaits the birth of his first child, adding to the team’s concerns after Harry Brook’s withdrawal.

Delhi Capitals may start their IPL 2025 campaign without KL Rahul, who is expected to miss the first two matches as he awaits the birth of his first child. The star batter, signed for ₹12 crores in the auction after leaving Lucknow Super Giants, adds to Delhi’s concerns following Harry Brook’s withdrawal. Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant, Delhi’s former captain, joined LSG for a record ₹27 crore.

Australia women’s captain Alyssa Healy, revealed Rahul’s likely absence while analyzing the team. She also noted his role in stabilizing Delhi’s batting and emphasized the team’s mix of young power hitters and experienced players.

“No Harry Brook, (so) it will be interesting to see who the replacement player will be. They have KL Rahul, who will probably not play the first couple of games I think… they are awaiting the birth of (their) child, but that dynamic, is really cool,” Healy said in a conversation with the YouTube channel LiSTNR Sport.

“They have that power in the young guys but they also have a KL Rahul who can stitch the innings in T20 cricket. He’s going to be really exciting to watch,” she added.
