IPL 2025 | 286 Proves Too Much for Rajasthan Royals as SRH Secure a 44-Run Victory

Rajasthan Royals stand-in skipper Riyan Parag won the toss and chose to bowl against SunRisers Hyderabad in Match 2 of IPL 2025. SunRisers made a dominant start, racing to 94/1 in the powerplay despite losing Abhishek Sharma early. Travis Head and Ishan Kishan led the charge, both reaching quick half-centuries.

Head scored 67, while Nitish Kumar Reddy added 30 before falling. Kishan continued his aggressive approach, dismantling Rajasthan’s bowling attack. Heinrich Klaasen provided a late flourish with a 14-ball 34. Kishan’s unbeaten 106 off 47 balls powered SRH to 286/6, the second-highest total in IPL history. Pat Cummins’ team capitalized on the batting-friendly conditions at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.

Rajasthan Royals faced a steep challenge while chasing 287 but fell short despite a spirited effort. Their innings got off to a disastrous start, losing Yashasvi Jaiswal (1), Riyan Parag (4), and Nitish Rana (11) early. Sanju Samson and Dhruv Jurel tried to revive the chase with a 111-run stand, both scoring half-centuries. However, the mounting required run rate led to their dismissals, sealing SRH’s win.

SunRisers Hyderabad struck early with Simarjeet Singh taking two quick wickets, while Mohammad Shami also made an impact for his new team. The middle overs saw SRH control the game, absorbing pressure and restricting runs. Harshal Patel and Adam Zampa later dismissed the set batters, ensuring Rajasthan’s chase lost momentum. Despite some late hitting, SRH secured a dominant 44-run win, defending their massive total of 286/6.

Winning makes all the difference. Two fast bowlers, one concedes 76 runs in his full quota of overs, the other 60 and drops a catch too. The first might struggle to retain his spot in the XI, while the second barely gets questioned. That’s the impact of ending up on the winning…
