Shreyas Iyer is reportedly set to regain his BCCI central contract for 2024-25, while Ishan Kishan’s status remains uncertain, with the final decision expected after the board’s March 29 meeting.
Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer is reportedly expected to regain his BCCI central contract for the 2024-25 season. According to reports from the Times of India, the board is set to announce the new list this week following a meeting in Guwahati on March 29, attended by BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia, head coach Gautam Gambhir, and chief selector Ajit Agarkar.
Shreyas Iyer had an impressive year, winning the IPL 2024 title with Kolkata Knight Riders and multiple domestic trophies for Mumbai. He also emerged as India’s top run-scorer in the 2025 Champions Trophy.
Iyer and Ishan Kishan were removed from the contracts last year after skipping domestic matches while being out of the national team. While Iyer is likely to be placed in a top category, Kishan’s return remains uncertain. The BCCI’s contract eligibility rules require players to feature in three Tests, eight ODIs, or 10 T20Is in a year. Kishan, who last played for India in 2023, may struggle to meet the criteria.
The BCCI’s annual contracts feature four pay grades. Players in the A+ category receive ₹7 crore each, while those in Grade A get ₹5 crore. Grade B players earn ₹3 crore, and Grade C players receive ₹1 crore. Additionally, despite speculation, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Ravindra Jadeja will remain in the A+ category. Concerns had emerged since this grade was typically for all-format players, and all three have retired from T20Is.
Notably, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Varun Chakaravarthy, and Abhishek Sharma will secure their first central contracts in this cycle, according to reports.
