Fortress Chepauk Falls! RCB Crushes CSK by 50 Runs in a Historic Win

RCB

RCB ended their 17-year wait for a win at Chepauk with a 50-run win over CSK, which also marked CSK’s biggest home defeat against any team.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru secured a dominant 50-run win over Chennai Super Kings, breaking a 17-year losing streak at Chepauk. This is CSK’s biggest defeat at home in IPL history.

Chasing 197, CSK struggled early, losing three wickets inside the powerplay, including skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad for a duck. Josh Hazlewood and Bhuvneshwar Kumar exploited the new ball effectively, restricting CSK to just 28/3 after six overs.

Shivam Dube and Rachin Ravindra attempted a recovery but struggled to accelerate. The RCB spinners tightened their grip, taking advantage of the dry surface as CSK reached 65/4 at the halfway mark, well behind RCB’s 93/2 at the same stage.

With the required run rate climbing, Dube launched a few big hits to revive CSK’s hopes, but his dismissal alongside Ravindra in the same over by Yash Dayal ended any chance of a comeback. MS Dhoni provided some entertainment for the home crowd, smashing a few late sixes along with Ravindra Jadeja, but the target remained beyond reach. CSK ended with 146 runs on the board.

Earlier, Chennai Super Kings opted to bowl first against Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Phil Salt provided an explosive start, taking on the bowlers aggressively, while Virat Kohli took his time to settle. Momentum shifted when MS Dhoni executed a sharp stumping to dismiss Salt. CSK’s spinners controlled the middle overs, but Rajat Patidar and Kohli built a steady partnership.

Bengaluru lost a few quick wickets, but Tim David ensured a strong finish. His late flourish, including three huge sixes in the final over, took RCB to a commanding 196. Noor Ahmad led CSK’s bowling effort with three wickets, while Khaleel Ahmed chipped in with two.

Been a long time coming but a stellar effort from RCB to breach the Chepauk fortress! They do look a team with all the bases covered. The way Rajat Patidar has stepped up to the leadership role has been impressive. Well played @RCBTweets 👏🏻 #CSKvRCB #IPL2025 pic.twitter.com/C246t9uhSi

Important win for RCB. A win at the fortress in Chepauk will be a huge boost in their campaign this year. Dhoni coming at number 9 dint make sense at all. Him coming earlier could have helped CSK’s NRR in their campaign this year.
