The PCB opened applications for head coach after interim coach Aaqib Javed showed no interest in continuing the role.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially started the hiring process for a new head coach of the national men’s cricket team after interim coach Aaqib Javed expressed his unwillingness to stay in the role, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.
Although Aaqib Javed has not yet been formally removed from his position, the PCB has advertised the head coach post, inviting applications from qualified candidates. The deadline to apply is May 4, 2025.
As per the job listing, applicants must hold a Level III coaching certification and have at least 10 years of coaching experience at either the national or top-tier domestic level. The PCB is also looking for a candidate with strong administrative and managerial skills to guide the men’s team across all three formats of the game.

The move comes after the PCB parted ways with former coaching duo Gary Kirsten and Jason Gillespie. Both were let go following a series of poor performances by the national side. Aaqib Javed was then appointed as an interim solution.
According to the report, Aaqib Javed has shown interest in taking on a different role instead. He wishes to serve as the director of the High-Performance Centre (HPC), for which the PCB has already released a separate job advertisement.
