In the fourth match of IPL 2025, Axar Patel won his first toss as Delhi Capitals captain and opted to bowl against Lucknow Super Giants. LSG posted 209/8 in 20 overs after a strong start, reaching 161/2 in 14 overs. Mitchell Marsh and Nicholas Pooran dominated with an 87-run stand in 42 balls. Marsh smashed 72 off 36, while Pooran hit 75 in 30.
However, DC pulled things back after Pooran fell in the 15th over to Mitchell Starc. Mukesh Kumar earlier dismissed Marsh, slowing LSG’s momentum. Rishabh Pant was dismissed for a duck, making his debut as DC captain. DC’s bowlers applied pressure in the final overs, restricting LSG from capitalizing on their early advantage.
Chasing 210, Delhi Capitals suffered an early collapse as Jake Fraser-McGurk and Abishek Porel fell in the first over. Faf du Plessis tried to stabilize the innings but kept losing partners. Axar Patel played an aggressive knock but departed at a crucial stage, and Du Plessis’ dismissal made the task even harder.
Tristan Stubbs and Ashutosh Sharma built a much-needed partnership, but Stubbs fell. Debutant Vipraj Nigam played a quick cameo, keeping DC’s hopes alive. Ashutosh then took charge, accelerating the chase when it mattered most. His unbeaten 66 off 31 balls powered Delhi Capitals to a last-over win against Lucknow Super Giants, sealing the chase with a six.
