Delhi Capitals batter KL Rahul and his wife, actress Athiya Shetty, welcomed a baby girl on Monday. The couple announced the news through a social media post. Rahul had joined his IPL 2025 franchise but took special permission to return home, missing Delhi Capitals’ opening match against Lucknow Super Giants.
Rahul, signed by Delhi Capitals for ₹14 crore at the IPL 2025 auction, was set to debut for the team in their first match. Fans and celebrities have been flooding social media with congratulatory messages for the couple. Athiya, daughter of Bollywood star Suniel Shetty, married Rahul on January 23, 2023.

Despite his brief absence, Rahul is expected to rejoin Delhi Capitals before their next match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on March 30. Notably, he has represented four IPL teams—Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Punjab Kings, and Lucknow Super Giants. In 132 matches, he has scored 4,683 runs, including four centuries and 37 fifties.
For India, Rahul has played 58 Tests, 85 ODIs, and 72 T20Is. His international tally stands at 3,257 Test runs, 3,043 in ODIs, and 2,265 in T20Is.
