Australia has finalized their central contracts for the 2025-26 season, adding Sam Konstas, Matthew Kuhnemann, and Beau Webster to the 23-player list.
Kuhnemann made a significant impact during Australia’s Test series win in Sri Lanka, claiming 16 wickets in two matches. He has now taken 35 wickets in five Tests, marking an impressive start to his red-ball career. Konstas, at just 19, was impressed in his Test debut during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series against India. His 60 in the first innings helped shift the momentum in Australia’s favor, contributing to their series win. Webster, also a debutant in the series, scored a fifty in his first match and showed his utility with the ball.
Australia’s national selectors chairman, George Bailey, praised the new additions. Bailey highlighted Kuhnemann’s strong performances in Sri Lanka and his potential over the next 18 months. He also noted Webster’s impressive all-round abilities at the Test level.
“Matt was outstanding once again in Sri Lanka and we believe he can play a key role across the next 18 months. In Beau’s case he proved more than comfortable at Test level with bat and ball, adds an additional dimension in the field and to the balance of the side. In Sam we see promising upside in a young player who will continue to develop at first class level and in the international environment,” Bailey said.
Additionally, Mitchell Marsh and Cameron Green, both recovering from injuries, have retained their places on Australia’s 2025-26 central contract list. Senior players Steve Smith, Usman Khawaja, and Nathan Lyon also remain included.
