Lucknow Super Giants’ Digvesh Singh was fined 25% of his match fee and received a demerit point for his exaggerated send-off to Punjab Kings’ Priyansh Arya during an IPL 2025 match at the Ekana Cricket Stadium.

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) bowler Digvesh Singh has been penalized for an excessive celebration after dismissing Punjab Kings’ (PBKS) batter Priyansh Arya during their IPL 2025 clash at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium on Tuesday evening.

In the third over of PBKS’ chase of 172, Digvesh bowled a short delivery that Arya attempted to pull. However, he mistimed the shot, resulting in a top edge that was comfortably caught by Shardul Thakur at mid-on. As Arya walked back after scoring eight runs, Digvesh followed him and theatrically performed the ‘notebook celebration,’ pretending to write his name in an imaginary notebook. Arya did not react and continued his walk back to the dugout.

The IPL governing body has taken strict action against Digvesh for his actions. He has been fined 25% of his match fee and given one demerit point for breaching the tournament’s code of conduct.

“Digvesh Singh, Bowler, Lucknow Super Giants has been fined 25 per cent of his match fees and has also accumulated One Demerit Point for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during his team’s match against Punjab Kings at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow on Tuesday,” the IPL said in a statement. Digvesh admitted to the Level 1 offence under Article 2.5 of the IPL Code of Conduct and accepted the sanction.

Notably, LSG struggled in their first home match of the season, losing their second game in three matches. After recovering from 35/3, they managed to put up a total of 171/7. However, the score proved insufficient as Punjab Kings comfortably chased the target in just 16.2 overs, winning by eight wickets.

Despite the defeat, Digvesh was one of LSG’s standout performers, picking up both PBKS wickets that fell during the chase, including Priyansh Arya and half-centurion Prabhsimran Singh, who scored a blazing 69 off 34 balls.
