‘IKillU’ Emails: Gautam Gambhir Requests FIR After Alleged Threats from Terror Group

Gautam Gambhir has approached Delhi Police after receiving two death threat emails reportedly from ‘ISIS Kashmir’ on April 22.

Indian cricket team head coach Gautam Gambhir has reportedly filed a police complaint after receiving two death threat emails on April 22. The messages reportedly came from a Gmail account linked to a group identifying as ‘ISIS Kashmir’ and carried the chilling message ‘IKillU’. The threats coincided with a terror attack in Kashmir’s Pahalgam, where 26 people were killed.

Gambhir immediately alerted the Rajinder Nagar Police Station in Delhi. His personal secretary submitted a formal request for an FIR, urging authorities to ensure the safety of his family. The matter is currently under investigation. Gambhir, a former Member of Parliament and World Cup-winning cricketer, received both threats on the same day.

“As we spoke, please find below the “Threat Mails” received on the mail ID of Mr Gautam Gambhir (Ex- MP) Head Coach Indian Cricket Team. Kindly register the F.l.R accordingly and ensure the safety and security of the family,” News18 quoted PS to Gambhir as he wrote in a mail to Rajender Nagar SHO and DCP Central.

Delhi Police and higher officials have acknowledged the seriousness of the situation.

“We have been informed about an alleged threat mail received on an email ID associated with Gautam Gambhir. The matter is being investigated. Gautam Gambhir is already under Delhi Police protection, and we do not comment on specific security arrangements,” said DCP (Central) V Harsha Vardhan.

“Gambhir is already a Delhi Police protectee and we do not comment on specific security arrangements,” he added.

The security detail around Gambhir and his family has reportedly been enhanced following the threats. Authorities are now tracing the origin of the emails and reviewing surveillance footage.
