RCB’s Unbeaten Streak Ends as Gujarat Titans Win by 8-Wickets

Gujarat Titans win by 8 wickets over RCB

Gujarat Titans handed Royal Challengers Bengaluru their first defeat of IPL 2025, securing an eight-wicket win at Chinnaswamy Stadium with 13 balls to spare. This marked Gujarat’s second consecutive win in the tournament.

Chasing 170, GT controlled the game from the start. Openers played cautiously before accelerating, keeping the target within reach. Shubman Gill fell early, but Sai Sudharsan anchored the innings with a composed knock. His 75-run stand with Jos Buttler ensured a smooth chase. Sai Sudharsan missed his fifty by one run, but Buttler provided the finishing touch.

Buttler reached his half-century and, alongside Sherfane Rutherford, completed the chase with ease. GT’s disciplined approach with both bat and ball dismantled an RCB side riding high on confidence before their first home match.

In the first innings, RCB’s batting collapsed early as they slumped to 42/4, struggling against Gujarat’s disciplined attack. Liam Livingstone and Jitesh Sharma revived the innings with a crucial 52-run partnership. Livingstone accelerated in the later stages, smashing a vital half-century. Tim David’s late hitting pushed RCB to 169, giving them a fighting chance. Mohammed Siraj led Gujarat’s bowling with three key wickets, while Sai Kishore controlled the middle overs with two scalps.

Commanding show by GT! Were always in control of the game since Siraj struck with the new ball and then Sai Kishore and co ensured RCB stay at least 20 below par. Then Sudharsan set up the chase and Buttler finished it off without a sweat. Well played @gujarat_titans 👏🏻 #RCBvGT

RCB has bowled too short against Jos Buttler. How many delivery were hitting the stumps vs Jos? He took the full advantage of that. Very comfortable win for GT 👏

I spoke on my YT channel that Hazlewood hasn’t hit the stump in his last 48 balls so far before this game. Sai Sudarshan made that plan to lap him for six exactly cos of that. Well thought.

GT unlikely to even catch a cold tonight. Worst catching performance for a long long time. #RCBvGT
