Royal Challengers Bengaluru sealed a win over Mumbai Indians, defending a total of 222 despite a late fightback. Hardik Pandya scored 42 off 15 balls, while Tilak Varma added 56, nearly guiding MI to a memorable chase. However, Krunal Pandya turned the game in the final over by taking three wickets, halting Mumbai’s charge.
Krunal, who played a key role with the ball, shared his emotions after the match, acknowledging the strong bond he shares with his younger brother Hardik. While both brothers fought hard for their respective teams, Krunal admitted it was tough seeing Hardik on the losing side.
“The bond that we have, at the end of the day, we knew only one (Pandya) would win. But the love and affection we have for each other is very natural. He (Hardik) batted well,” Krunal admitted.
“We won and I also wanted to win, he(Hardik) also wanted to win. I feel for him,” he added.

Krunal Pandya Credits Jitesh and Patidar
Krunal Pandya then credited Bengaluru skipper Rajat Patidar for the team’s strong start in IPL 2025, highlighting his calm leadership and consistent support. He praised Patidar’s ability to back his bowlers and simplify game-plans. Krunal also appreciated Jitesh Sharma’s performance, noting the wicketkeeper’s improved batting and sharp awareness during his unbeaten 40-run knock.
“Rajat has been terrific the way he has started. A captain who gives you that comfort, he gives you the ball and backs your game-plan. Sometimes, as a bowler, you want that,” Krunal said.
“He has a calm demeanour, does not make things complicated. Been good playing under him. Jitesh (Sharma, 40 not out) has been terrific, he has improved his game. The game awareness while batting has been top-notch. I don’t want to jinx it (winning the trophy) or say it, but we all know what you want at the end of the season. Just want to keep my head down and keep winning,” he added.
