Hassan Ali believes strong performances in the PSL can win back disappointed fans, even drawing viewers away from the IPL, especially after Pakistan’s recent struggles.
Karachi Kings pacer Hassan Ali believes the Pakistan Super League’s success depends heavily on the national team’s performance. Speaking ahead of PSL 10, he urged players to reconnect with disheartened fans through consistent displays on the field.
Pakistan have faced a tough spell recently, including poor outings at home during the ICC Champions Trophy and the New Zealand tour. Despite this, Hassan expressed faith in the squad’s young talent and fresh coaching setup, saying they need time to settle and deliver. He also called on senior players to step up and inspire confidence among supporters.
“When the national team doesn’t perform well, it impacts franchise leagues like the PSL. But when Pakistan do well, the PSL’s graph also rises. The current results aren’t great, but we have fresh faces in the team and also in management who need time. The players know where they went wrong and where to improve,” Hassan was quoted as saying by GeoTV.
With PSL 2025 clashing directly with the Indian Premier League, Hassan feels that entertaining cricket can still pull fans toward the league.
“Our people love cricket, and the fans are very emotional. We will try our best to make them happy with our performances. Fans watch the tournament where there’s good cricket with entertainment. If we play well in the PSL, viewers will leave the IPL to watch us,” he added.
Karachi Kings Ready to Win Back Fans, Says Hassan Ali
Hassan Ali then praised the Pakistan Super League for giving young cricketers a chance to grow by sharing space with top players. He said consistent performances in the tournament often lead to national call-ups. After a strong showing in the National T20 Cup, Hassan hopes to continue his form and push for a national comeback. He also aims to help Karachi Kings perform well and attract home support.
“Performing in the PSL grabs the attention of selectors and management — there’s no doubt about that. I recently performed well in the National T20 Cup and will try to keep that momentum. This PSL is important for me as I aim to make a comeback to the national team and as Karachi Kings team, we will do our best to bring Karachi cricket fans back to the stadium,” the pacer concluded.
The PSL 2025 starts on the 11th of this month, with Karachi Kings playing their first match on the 12th against Multan Sultans in what promises to be an exciting opening match.
