Ramiz Raja accidentally called PSL the “IPL” during a live match broadcast on April 22.

Former Pakistan cricketer and now commentator Ramiz Raja made an amusing on-air mistake during a Pakistan Super League (PSL) match on Tuesday, April 22, and it quickly caught the attention of fans on social media.

During the post-match presentation of the PSL game between Multan Sultans and Lahore Qalandars in Multan, Ramiz was presenting the ‘Catch of the Match’ award when he mistakenly referred to the tournament as the “IPL” instead of “PSL.”

The award went to Joshua Little of the Multan Sultans, who took a stunning catch to dismiss Fakhar Zaman. While praising the effort, Ramiz said: “What a catch! Probably the catch of the HBL IPL.”

The slip of the tongue surprised many, especially as Ramiz did not try to correct himself. The clip of the incident quickly went viral online, leading to a flood of memes and light-hearted jokes. Despite the post-match blooper, Multan Sultans had a reason to celebrate on the field. After suffering three straight defeats, they secured their first win of the season by defeating Lahore Qalandars by 33 runs.

Multan posted a massive 228-run total, thanks to a brilliant knock from Yasir Khan, who scored 87 off just 44 balls and was named Player of the Match. Iftikhar Ahmed also added quick runs, smashing 40 from 18 balls.

For Lahore, Sikandar Raza fought hard with a 50-run effort off 27 balls, but his team fell short, managing only 195/9 in 20 overs. Young pacer Ubaid Shah, just 19 years old, played a crucial role in Multan’s win. He picked up key wickets, dismissing Fakhar Zaman, Daryl Mitchell, and Sam Billings, and helped defend the big total.

Before this win, Multan had a tough start to their PSL campaign. They lost their opening game to Karachi Kings by 4 wickets, followed by a 47-run defeat to Islamabad United and a heavy 120-run loss to Peshawar Zalmi. However, their performance in this match showed signs of a strong comeback, as they finally delivered a solid all-round effort to secure their first victory.
