Rohit Sharma Positive With England Tour In June, Says, “It’s Going To Be A Good Challenge”

India scheduled to begin 2025-26 season with a five-Test series in England starting June 20 and Rohit Sharma is positive with the outcomes.

The Indian men’s cricket team will kick off its 2025-26 season with a high-stakes five-match Test series against England, starting June 20 at Headingley. The rest of the matches will be played at Birmingham, Lord’s, Manchester, and The Oval.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is expected to announce the squad for the away tour in the coming days. All eyes will be on senior batter Rohit Sharma, whose form was under scrutiny during India’s last Test series against Australia. Speculation has been rife about whether the 37-year-old will continue in the longest format, with many experts believing that his time in Test cricket might be over.

However, Rohit, who is also India’s leading run scorer in the current World Test Championship cycle, has his sights firmly set on the England series.

Speaking to former Australian captain Michael Clarke on the Beyond23 Cricket podcast, Rohit said the Indian team will have a good chance in England if the pace battery remains fully fit. “We want Bumrah, Shami and other bowlers to be 100% fit for the England tour. If we have a fully fit team, then obviously we’ll have a great series in England. It’s going to be a good challenge for us in England,” Rohit said.

India, who finished runners-up in the World Test Championship finals in 2021 and 2023, last won a Test series in England back in 2007 under the leadership of Rahul Dravid.

In their previous Test tour to England in 2021, India, led by Virat Kohli, won two matches but lost the other two. The final Test of that series was played in July 2022 at Edgbaston.
