RR skipper Sanju Samson might miss the remaining matches of IPL 2025 due to injury, with scans awaited to decide his availability.

Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson may not feature in the rest of the IPL 2025 season after suffering an injury during RR’s recent clash against Delhi Capitals. According to Sportstar, the 30-year-old underwent scans and his availability for upcoming matches depends on the medical reports.

“Sanju Samson underwent scans, and his availability will depend on the reports,” Sportstar quoted. Samson, retained by RR for ₹18 crore before the 2025 mega auction, has been a key player this season, scoring 224 runs in seven matches, including a half-century. He suffered the injury during RR’s seventh league game in Delhi and had to retire hurt in the sixth over of the run chase. He also didn’t bat in the Super Over, which RR eventually lost.

If the Kerala batter is ruled out, it will be a major blow for the 2008 IPL champions. RR are set to face Delhi Capitals again in their eighth league match on April 19 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. Whether Samson plays remains uncertain.

In his absence, Riyan Parag is expected to lead the side. The Assam all-rounder captained RR in the first three games of the season when Samson was used only as an Impact Player.
