The ICC announced that Lord’s Cricket Ground would host the final of the 2026 Women’s T20 World Cup on July 5.
The historic Lord’s Cricket Ground in London will host the final of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced on Thursday. The tournament will begin on June 12 and conclude with the grand finale on July 5 at Lord’s, which famously hosted the Women’s ODI World Cup final in 2017.
The 2026 edition will feature 12 teams and a total of 33 matches. The matches will be played across seven venues in England, including Old Trafford, Headingley, Edgbaston, The Oval, Hampshire Bowl, Bristol County Ground, and Lord’s.
The competition will be divided into two groups, followed by a knockout stage. The complete schedule will be revealed in the coming months. Eight teams have already qualified for the tournament—Australia, England, India, New Zealand, South Africa, West Indies, and two others. The final four spots will be decided through the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier in 2025.
ICC Chair Jay Shah expressed his enthusiasm about the return of a Women’s World Cup final to Lord’s. “The United Kingdom’s rich diversity has always shown passionate support for all teams. The sell-out Women’s Cricket World Cup final at Lord’s in 2017 remains a landmark in the rise of the women’s game, and I cannot think of a more fitting stage for the final,” Shah said.
He added that the tournament will also help prepare the world stage for women’s cricket at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics. “As we turn our focus to preparing for the tournament, we are excited by the promise of thrilling T20 action that will not only captivate fans here but also serve as a showcase for cricket’s return on the Olympic stage in Los Angeles 2028,” he said.

Since the 2017 Women’s ODI World Cup, ICC global women’s events have seen significant growth in popularity. The 2020 Women’s T20 World Cup final between Australia and India in Melbourne had a record 86,174 spectators. The 2023 and 2024 finals, held in Cape Town and Dubai respectively, were also sold out—an impressive milestone for women’s cricket in regions where ticketing was not previously common.
England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) Chief Executive Richard Gould said the country is ready to host another historic tournament.
“We are hugely excited for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, and thrilled to be able to confirm the seven iconic venues that will host the tournament,” Gould said. “It is of course extra special to announce that the final will be taking place at Lord’s. It is one of the finest venues in world cricket and every cricketer dreams of being part of occasions like a World Cup final at Lord’s.”
