Vaibhav Suryavanshi smashed a 35-ball century to script a sensational win for Rajasthan Royals against Gujarat Titans.
Young Rajasthan Royals (RR) opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi stole the spotlight in IPL 2025 with a record-breaking century, earning plaudits from legends like MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli. After his breathtaking knock against Gujarat Titans, RR team manager Romi Bhinder revealed heartfelt conversations the 14-year-old had with the two greats of Indian cricket.
Speaking to Sports Today (via Hindustan Times), Bhinder recalled a match earlier this season when RR hosted Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Guwahati. That game gave Vaibhav a special moment with MS Dhoni.
“MS Dhoni also praised him a lot, he said ‘ok, you got the baby in your team. The baby is showing the great shots like a matured player’,” Bhinder said.
The manager also compared Vaibhav’s calm nature and attacking game to Dhoni’s own style, drawing similarities in how both conduct themselves on and off the field.
“Yes, he met Dhoni the last game we played in Guwahati. So he met Mahi. He will again meet him in our reverse fixture against CSK. But I can see similar traits in both men. Both are calm and cool, but still play aggressive cricketing shots. So there are a few similarities,” Bhinder added.

Vaibhav’s admiration for Virat Kohli is also no secret. Bhinder shared how the youngster had a fanboy moment when he finally met Kohli and received some valuable advice from the former India captain. “Vaibhav likes Virat Kohli a lot. They met and shared a couple of tips. Virat also told him that how to be grounded and how to stay humble and work hard,” he revealed.
The young opener showed his class in RR’s must-win clash against Gujarat Titans on Monday, April 28. Chasing a stiff target of 210, the 14-year-old took charge from the beginning, putting on an explosive display during the powerplay and continuing to dominate throughout his innings.
Vaibhav hammered a stunning 35-ball century, eventually scoring 101 off just 38 deliveries. His knock featured seven boundaries and 11 sixes, striking at a remarkable rate of 265.79. Thanks to his explosive innings, RR chased down the total in only 15.5 overs with eight wickets in hand, keeping their playoff hopes alive.
