Virat Kohli and Kevin Pietersen shared a warm hug after RCB defeated DC in IPL 2025.

Virat Kohli and Kevin Pietersen shared a warm moment after the IPL 2025 clash between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Delhi Capitals on Sunday. In the 46th match of the season, three-time finalists RCB extended their winning streak with a six-wicket win over Axar Patel’s DC at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.

Another half-century from Kohli helped RCB stay unbeaten in away matches this season. After the match, Kohli caught up with DC’s mentor Kevin Pietersen, sharing a hug with the legendary England batter, with whom he once shared the RCB dressing room.

Pietersen posted a photograph of their meeting on X (formerly Twitter), simply adding a red heart emoji to the post. Kohli shares a close relationship with the former England captain. Earlier this year, when England toured India ahead of the Champions Trophy, Kohli and Pietersen were seen together several times, sparking rumors about their discussions.

Many speculated that Kohli was seeking advice about real estate in London. However, Pietersen later addressed the rumors, saying, “Never ever assume things. I can use an analogy about assumptions, but I won’t here.” As for Sunday’s match, DC suffered their third defeat of the season. Pietersen spoke about the home loss after the game.

“I think winning the toss was very important. There was dew, and I think batting was a bit easier towards the end,” he said. “I think it was a little bit harder in the first innings for us. Those middle overs, the wicket was dry, and the dew hadn’t set yet. I think there wasn’t dew last night when we finished training.” Reflecting on DC’s season so far, Pietersen admitted that the team had yet to deliver a complete performance.

“We haven’t hit our straps in all departments, and I think it is a good thing. We haven’t played our perfect match yet, but I do believe it is coming. We can only play 11 players,” he concluded. DC have now lost three of their last five matches. They will aim to bounce back when they face defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders next.
