Virat Kohli hurt himself while trying to prevent a sweep shot from Sai Sudharsan in the boundary.
A moment of concern arose during the IPL 2025 match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Gujarat Titans (GT) when Virat Kohli injured his finger while fielding.
The incident took place in the 12th over of Gujarat Titans’ chase when Sai Sudharsan powerfully swept a delivery from Krunal Pandya. Kohli, stationed at deep mid-wicket, attempted to stop the ball, but it skidded awkwardly, striking his right hand before rolling to the boundary.

As the ball raced away, Kohli dropped to his knees, clutching his injured finger, prompting immediate silence in the stadium. RCB’s medical team quickly assessed him on the field. Though he continued playing, he appeared uncomfortable, frequently flexing his fingers.
The severity of Kohli’s injury remains uncertain, but fans hope it does not impact his performance in the remainder of the tournament. Earlier in the match, RCB struggled after being sent in to bat, with Kohli departing early for 7 off 6 balls, courtesy of Arshad Khan. Mohammed Siraj led GT’s bowling attack with figures of 3/19, dismantling RCB’s top order as they slumped to 42/4 in 6.2 overs.

However, a spirited comeback from Liam Livingstone (54 off 40), Jitesh Sharma (33 off 21), and Tim David (32 off 18) helped RCB post a competitive total of 169/8. Livingstone’s aggressive batting, including three sixes off Rashid Khan in one over, played a key role in boosting RCB’s total.
With RCB’s season already inconsistent, Kohli’s injury could pose further challenges. His form and fitness remain crucial to the team’s success, and fans will be keenly awaiting further updates on his condition.
