Chris Tremlett said he expects Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli to return to top form in India’s upcoming five-match Test series in England, starting June 20.
Former England pacer Chris Tremlett has expressed faith in Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli ahead of India’s next red-ball assignment, a five-match Test series in England, scheduled to begin on June 20. Speaking to RevSportz, the 43-year-old said the duo may have struggled in their recent Test outings but could average “50-60” on the England tour.
“I have always admired Rohit and Virat. I know they were not impressive in the last few series, but they are still great players. It wouldn’t surprise me if Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma score runs at an average of 50-60 in the England series,” Tremlett said.
Both players are currently active in the ongoing Indian Premier League, where Kohli has been in red-hot form with 248 runs, including three fifties for Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Rohit, however, has largely played as an impact substitute for Mumbai Indians, scoring 82 runs in six appearances.

Tremlett, who played 12 Tests for England and took 53 wickets, added that their performances in the ICC Champions Trophy earlier this year could give them the much-needed confidence. Kohli was the fifth-highest run-scorer in that tournament with 218 runs at an average of 54.50, while Rohit scored 180 runs in five games at 36.
“Virat and Rohit found some form in the ICC Champions Trophy. I know it was a different format, but that’s not going to bother them. They will try to be ultra-aggressive in England. You can’t doubt great players like them. They can achieve big things even after going through low periods,” Tremlett added.
The Indian pair last featured in whites during the 2024-25 Border Gavaskar Trophy, where Kohli made a century in Perth but otherwise failed to leave a mark. Rohit missed the first Test and struggled in the next three before benching himself for the final match, which India lost by six wickets.
