Yograj Singh believes he can turn Arjun Tendulkar into the world’s best batter in six months and said Sachin Tendulkar and Yuvraj Singh were wrong to see him only as a bowling all-rounder.
Yograj Singh, the father of Yuvraj Singh, is known for his strict coaching and ability to shape young cricketers. He runs an academy that helps aspiring players develop their skills.
Yograj believes Arjun Tendulkar has the potential to become the world’s best batter. According to him, Sachin Tendulkar’s son is being wasted as a bowler despite having strong batting abilities.
“If Arjun Tendulkar comes to me now, I will make him the world’s greatest batter in six months. No one knows the potential he has with the bat,” the coach said on Taruwar Kohli’s YouTube channel.
Notably, Arjun had trained under Yograj for nearly two weeks before playing for Goa in the Ranji Trophy. He later scored a century, proving his batting potential. Yograj claimed that Sachin and Yuvraj viewed Arjun as a bowling all-rounder. However, he insists that Arjun’s real strength lies in batting.
“He was with me for 12 days, he scored a century in the Ranji Trophy. Sachin and Yuvraj told me to take Arjun Tendulkar under my wings. He stayed here with me for 10-12 days. I thought, ‘he is such a great batter. Why are you wasting him in bowling?’ As a batting all-rounder, he will be fine,” he added.
Arjun Tendulkar remains with Mumbai Indians for the 18th edition of the IPL but was not included in the playing XI against Chennai Super Kings at Chepauk. The all-rounder has played 17 first-class matches, scoring 532 runs and taking 37 wickets.
Since joining Mumbai Indians in 2021, he has played five IPL matches, scoring 13 runs and taking three wickets. At the 2025 auction, MI reacquired him for INR 30 lakh. However, his wait for another IPL opportunity continues.
