Blow for Gujarat Titans as Glenn Phillips Leaves Camp, Injury Suspected | Reports

Glenn Phillips has reportedly left the Gujarat Titans camp ahead of IPL 2025, possibly due to an injury, though the exact reason is still unknown.

Gujarat Titans have been dealt a setback as Glenn Phillips has exited the squad during IPL 2025. The 28-year-old was signed at the mega auction for INR 2 crore. Although the franchise has not confirmed the reason, reports suggest he may have picked up an injury.

The incident likely occurred during GT’s away match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 6 at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium. Phillips had not featured in any match for GT this season. The team opted for Sherfane Rutherford in the middle order, and the Caribbean player has delivered strong performances.

Phillips had recently impressed for New Zealand, helping them reach the Champions Trophy 2025 final. An official statement from the BCCI regarding his status is likely to follow soon.

GT Hit by Player Exits, Look to Extend Winning Streak vs LSG

Meanwhile, the Gujarat Titans may consider naming a replacement after Glenn Phillips’ mid-season exit. He is the second overseas player to leave the squad, following Kagiso Rabada’s departure due to a personal emergency. Rabada’s return date remains uncertain. GT now have five overseas players—Jos Buttler, Sherfane Rutherford, Rashid Khan, Gerald Coetzee, and Karim Janat.

After losing their opener to Punjab Kings, the Titans bounced back with four straight wins. They currently sit at the top of the IPL 2025 points table. GT will next face Lucknow Super Giants on Saturday, April 12, at the Ekana Stadium.
