“We’re Happy With Where We Are Now”: Heinrich Klaasen On SRH’s Dismal IPL 2025 Slump

Heinrich Klaasen expressed confidence in SRH’s playoff chances despite sitting 9th on the points table.

With only two wins from their first eight matches, Sunrisers Hyderabad currently occupy the 9th spot in the IPL 2025 points table. Despite their poor start to the season, star wicketkeeper-batter Heinrich Klaasen remains optimistic about the team’s chances of making it to the playoffs.

The 33-year-old South African, who was retained by SRH for a whopping Rs 23 crore ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auctions, has been one of the few bright spots for the team this year. Klaasen is also the leading run-scorer for SRH so far this season.

Speaking in a video shared by Star Sports on X, Klaasen said, “We want to play a certain brand, and we are sticking to that brand of cricket, and we do understand that we might have games that it doesn’t go according to plan, but we know the amount of games that we need to win to get into the playoffs, and we’re happy with where we are now, and like I said, it’s just about fine-tuning it a little bit and making sure that we can be a little bit more consistent.”

SRH will next take on five-time IPL champions Chennai Super Kings on Friday, April 25, at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. It will be SRH’s ninth league match of the season, and the stakes are high.

If Pat Cummins’ side suffers another defeat, their chances of reaching the playoffs will become extremely slim. In that scenario, the Hyderabad-based team will be able to accumulate a maximum of only 14 points. This season, 14 points may not be enough to secure a place in the top four, making their upcoming match a must-win clash.
