Jasprit Bumrah is getting closer to making a comeback but will reportedly miss the Mumbai Indians’ next two matches as he continues to build his bowling workload and awaits final fitness clearance.
Jasprit Bumrah will reportedly miss the Mumbai Indians’ IPL 2025 match against Lucknow Super Giants on April 4 and is also doubtful for their match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on April 7. The 31-year-old pacer last played in January 2025 and is currently working on his bowling workload at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. He is nearing a return but must clear the final fitness tests before rejoining MI.
“Bumrah is getting closer to returning to action. He has been building his bowling workload in recent weeks at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru and is understood to be close to taking the final round of fitness tests. Only after he gets the all-clear from the BCCI medical team can Bumrah link up with MI and play in the IPL,” the report from ESPNCricinfo read.
“Bumrah, it is understood, has been cautious himself and wants to ensure he is totally fit before returning to action. This is keeping in mind India’s five-Test series in England, starting on June 28,” it added.

After choosing to bowl first, they dismissed KKR for just 116 in 16.2 overs. Boult struck early, removing Sunil Narine in the first over, while Chahar picked up two wickets. Debutant Ashwani Kumar stole the show with 4 for 24 in three overs, sealing MI’s eight-wicket win.
