Lalit Modi expressed confidence in RCB winning their first IPL title in 2025.
Lalit Modi, the founder of the Indian Premier League (IPL), has thrown his weight behind Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), predicting that the franchise will finally end their title drought in the ongoing 2025 season. Taking to social media, Modi shared a touching Ghibli-style illustration of RCB icon Virat Kohli holding the coveted IPL trophy.
In a heartfelt Instagram post, Modi wrote, “I think I will take to predicting that Royal Challengers Bengaluru will win the IPL this year. It will be much loved by the RCB fans who have waited a good 18 years. They surely deserve it. What a stellar performance this season by the team.”
RCB remain one of the most widely followed franchises in the IPL, despite never winning the tournament across 17 previous seasons. They currently hold the distinction of being the most followed IPL team on Instagram, with a massive and loyal fanbase.

Modi also paid rich tribute to former RCB skipper and batting superstar Virat Kohli, praising his contributions to both franchise and country. “Virat Kohli the superstar who started with RCB right from the start of season one – when he was a youngster who had just captained India team which he led to win the U-19 Cricket World Cup 2008 – he went from there on to a brilliant career winning the #hearts of over billion people globally. It would be a #fitting win for the team and HIM, which was bought by my good friend Vijay Mallya for 112 million dollars in 2008. Wish them all the best,” he added.
This season, the team has seen a change in leadership, with Rajat Patidar stepping in as captain. Patidar has impressed fans and pundits alike with his calm and composed style. Under his leadership, RCB have enjoyed strong form, especially in away matches, winning four games on the road so far.
As the 2025 IPL season progresses, RCB find themselves in a solid position on the points table. If they continue this momentum, a spot in the playoffs looks well within their reach.
