Mumbai Indians (MI) returned to winning ways with a composed four-wicket win over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Match 33 of the IPL 2025, chasing down a target of 163 with 11 balls to spare at the Wankhede Stadium.
After being put into bat, SRH posted 162/5 in their 20 overs. Abhishek Sharma gave the visitors a bright start, scoring 40 off 28 balls, laced with 7 boundaries. Travis Head (28 off 29) and Heinrich Klaasen (37 off 28) tried to anchor the innings, but MI’s bowlers, especially Will Jacks (2/14) and Jasprit Bumrah (1/21), kept things under control. Late cameos from Aniket Verma (18* off 8) and Pat Cummins (8* off 4) lifted SRH to a competitive total.
In reply, MI got off to a brisk start with Ryan Rickelton (31 off 23) and Rohit Sharma (26 off 16) setting the tone. Despite losing wickets at regular intervals, contributions from Will Jacks (36 off 26), Suryakumar Yadav (26 off 15), and Hardik Pandya (21 off 9) kept MI ahead in the chase. Tilak Varma’s steady unbeaten 21 guided the team home in 18.1 overs.

Pat Cummins impressed with the ball for SRH, taking 3/26, including key scalps of Rohit, Jacks, and Suryakumar. Eshan Malinga chipped in with 2/36, but the total proved insufficient against MI’s power-packed batting.
The win pushed Mumbai Indians further up the points table, while Sunrisers Hyderabad will reflect on missed opportunities despite a fighting effort with both bat and ball.
They’re a good team but it just hasn’t clicked for them this year. #MIvSRH #IPL2025 pic.twitter.com/oKzuQdZ6jP

That was some terrific bowling by MI , some of the best restrictive bowling i have seen by MI,their feilding was terrible, could have saved easily 30 runs, lets see , the wicket is very sticky and wont be surprised if SRH puts up a fight if they get 2 early wickets! #MIvSRH
