Devdutt Padikkal and Virat Kohli scored half-centuries to help RCB beat Punjab Kings by 7 wickets and secure their fifth straight away win.
RCB defeated Punjab Kings by 7 wickets while chasing 158, recording their fifth consecutive away win in IPL 2025. The victory puts RCB level on 10 points with four other teams. Punjab missed the chance to take the top spot after a poor batting effort.
RCB’s bowlers laid the platform with a disciplined first innings. Despite losing Phil Salt early, the chase remained in control throughout. Devdutt Padikkal scored a quick 61, while Virat Kohli anchored the innings with an unbeaten 73. Their 103-run partnership for the second wicket sealed the match.
Punjab Kings started strong this season but are beginning to show clear weaknesses. Batting first after losing the toss, they began well in the Powerplay and looked set for a big total. However, once the slower bowlers entered the attack, Punjab struggled. Krunal Pandya dismissed both openers, triggering a collapse. The middle order failed to build momentum despite having set batters at the death. Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Josh Hazlewood then executed perfect yorkers to restrict scoring. Punjab ended with a below-par total of 157/6.
They managed an early breakthrough in the chase, but failed to apply pressure through the middle overs. Though they claimed two more wickets late in the game, the result was beyond reach. RCB’s bowlers set the tone, and the batters completed a comfortable chase, leaving Punjab with their third loss of the season.
