Rishabh Pant Gets Full Support from Nicholas Pooran Ahead of IPL 2025

Nicholas Pooran extended his full support to Rishabh Pant as LSG’s new captain for IPL 2025, praising the team’s balance and looking forward to their performance in the tournament.

Nicholas Pooran has backed Rishabh Pant as the new captain of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and expressed confidence in the squad’s balance for IPL 2025, starting on March 22. Pant, who was signed for a record Rs 27 crore in Jeddah’s auction, was appointed LSG captain in January. Pooran, one of the five retained players, believes the mix of experienced and young talent strengthens their title chances. He highlighted Pant’s leadership qualities, skills, and experience, emphasizing full team support on and off the field.

“We have a good chance, we’ve a really balanced team (with) experienced and youth (players). We’re looking forward to leading with the experienced players,” Pooran told IANS.

“Yeah, again, there’s a better, fresh air. He comes with his package his experiences, on his skill and talent, and we looking forward to see how he goes. He has our support 100% both on and off the field. Actions speak louder than words so let’s see how it goes,” he added.

Pooran On India’s Cricket Culture

Nicholas Pooran then praised young players for their fearless approach in T20 cricket, highlighting how evolving rules and improved skills have made the game more competitive. He also expressed his admiration for India, appreciating the country’s passion for cricket and the warm welcome players receive.

“Obviously, the rules have changed. The players have gotten better as well. Both batters and bowlers. The younger guys have been extremely talented. Came into the tournament and obviously dominated from the moment started. So the game has changed. The rules have changed, and it’s really exciting,” he said.

“I love most things about India, obviously. The way the people welcome you here, the way they support cricket, the love for cricket here. I just believe it’s a dream, where we come from. Cricket isn’t that loved anymore. So, you know, coming here is obviously something new and we really appreciate how the people here of India welcome us. I really love being here,” he concluded.

LSG will begin their campaign against Delhi Capitals on March 24, aiming for a strong start.
