Former MI coach said Rohit Sharma looked in the zone despite not crossing 30 against SRH, hinting that a big knock may be coming soon.
Former South African wicketkeeper and Mumbai Indians’ ex-head coach Mark Boucher has thrown his support behind Rohit Sharma, saying the star opener is showing signs of a return to form after a brief, aggressive knock against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Thursday.
“Rohit Sharma took it upon himself to go after the bowlers. We saw some good old-fashioned Rohit Sharma sixes – big ones too. I liked his attitude,” Boucher told the host broadcaster after Mumbai’s four-wicket win over SRH.
Rohit made 26 off 16 balls, including three sixes, before falling to Pat Cummins. While he again missed a half-century — his highest this season — Boucher believes a big innings is on the horizon. “He put the bowlers under pressure, created scoring opportunities. He was just past the 30-mark — a big score is coming very soon. He’s looking in that zone again,” he said.

Rohit has struggled in IPL 2025 so far, failing to score more than 26 in six innings. His scores of 0, 8, 13, 17, 18, and 26 have seen him play as an impact substitute under the new captain, Hardik Pandya.
On Thursday, the veteran batter gave MI a flying start before mistiming a full toss straight to Travis Head. His frustration was evident as he walked back, unable to convert his start.
Despite Rohit’s lean patch, Mumbai now sit seventh on the points table with three wins from seven games. They next face Chennai Super Kings in a high-stakes clash at Wankhede on Sunday, April 20.
