Rohit Sharma celebrated his 38th birthday by joking with Sanju Samson, a video of which went viral before MI’s game against RR.
India captain Rohit Sharma, who turned 38 on Wednesday, was seen having a fun moment with Rajasthan Royals skipper Sanju Samson ahead of Mumbai Indians’ IPL 2025 match against RR. A video capturing Rohit’s light-hearted prank on Samson quickly went viral across social media platforms.
Samson, currently recovering from a side strain, approached Rohit to wish him, asking if it was indeed his birthday. Rohit, in typical fashion, denied it with a cheeky smile, leaving Samson momentarily confused. Rohit then shared warm hugs with Samson and several other Rajasthan Royals players, spreading smiles and sportsmanship on the eve of a crucial Indian Premier League clash.

Adding a heartwarming moment to the viral clip, Rohit was also seen catching up with Rahul Dravid. The former India head coach, who now works with Rajasthan Royals, played a big role alongside Rohit in guiding India to a long-awaited ICC trophy win in 2024. The duo led India to victory in the T20 World Cup final against South Africa in the West Indies.

In the ongoing IPL 2025 season, Dravid’s Royals have had a difficult run, securing just three wins so far. However, they recently bounced back with a thrilling victory over Gujarat Titans by successfully chasing a massive 213-run target. The star of the match was 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who has quickly become the talk of the town.
Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians have found strong momentum, winning five games in a row and climbing into the top four of the points table. Rajasthan Royals still have a mathematical chance of reaching the playoffs, but sources say the team management has already accepted their slim hopes.
Samson has been out of action since April 16, and his return remains uncertain. His absence allowed Suryavanshi to debut, and in just three matches, the teenager has impressed everyone. He and Yashasvi Jaiswal added a 166-run opening stand in the last match against GT, easily chasing down the 210-run target.
