Shubman Gill, who missed the last match due to a back spasm, may return for GT’s clash against SRH as per Vikram Solanki.
Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill could return against Sunrisers Hyderabad after missing the previous game due to a back spasm. Gill had scored 84 runs off 50 balls in GT’s earlier clash with Rajasthan Royals on April 28 but did not take the field in the second innings. Rashid Khan took over as captain in his absence, but GT went on to lose that match by eight wickets.
Gujarat Titans director Vikram Solanki stated that Gill was rested as a precaution and will be assessed during training ahead of the upcoming match in Ahmedabad. The team remains hopeful about his availability.
“His fitness, there was a bit of a back spasm. We’re just trying to be careful with it. He’ll be at training today. We’ll just see where he’s at. We’re reasonably confident that he’s going to be OK,” Solanki was quoted as saying by India Today.
Shubman Gill has been a key performer for Gujarat Titans in IPL 2025, scoring 389 runs in nine matches. He averages 48.62 and has a strike rate of 156.22, with four fifties so far. His form, especially at Ahmedabad, will be crucial for the Titans in their next fixture.
Meanwhile, Vikram Solanki also stressed the need to approach SunRisers Hyderabad with caution. Despite SRH’s inconsistency this season, with only three wins in nine games, Solanki highlighted their ability to surprise opponents.
“We must pay the due respect that SRH deserves. They are a very strong team. We will be conscious of the threat that they have. They’ve got match-winners across their team,” he said.
Gujarat will aim to stay focused and deliver a disciplined performance.
