The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) confirmed that Suryakumar Yadav will continue playing for Mumbai, dismissing rumors about a move to Goa.
The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has confirmed that Suryakumar Yadav will continue representing Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy, dismissing speculation about a potential move to Goa. This clarification comes amid reports suggesting that the Goa Cricket Association (GCA) was targeting Suryakumar and Tilak Varma following Yashasvi Jaiswal’s switch.
Jaiswal announced his decision to join Goa from the 2025-26 season, reportedly due to differences with senior Mumbai players. However, his transfer will only be finalized once the BCCI opens the inter-state transfer window.
Following this move, rumors emerged about Suryakumar and Tilak also leaving Mumbai. However, Suryakumar dismissed the claims on social media.

MCA also issued an official statement reaffirming his commitment. The association confirmed speaking to the Indian T20I captain, who remains dedicated to Mumbai cricket. MCA urged fans to ignore misinformation and support their players.
“The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) is aware of rumours circulating on social media regarding Surya Kumar Yadav’s alleged decision to move players to Goa instead of playing for Mumbai,” MCA secretary Abhay Hadap said in a statement.
“MCA officials have spoken with Surya this morning, and can confirm that these rumours are completely baseless and untrue. Surya Kumar Yadav remains committed for Mumbai and takes immense pride in playing for Mumbai. We urge everyone to refrain from spreading misinformation and to support our players as they continue to contribute to Mumbai Cricket Association,” he added.
Meanwhile, reports of Hyderabad’s Tilak Varma switching to Goa have been dismissed as false. The BCCI previously mandated that centrally contracted players must participate in domestic cricket to remain eligible for national selection. With Jaiswal’s move confirmed, Goa will look to strengthen its squad for the upcoming domestic season.
