Vaibhav Suryavanshi made IPL history by debuting for Rajasthan Royals at just 14 years old, replacing the injured Sanju Samson.
Fourteen-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi created headlines on his IPL debut for Rajasthan Royals against Lucknow Super Giants in Jaipur. With regular captain Sanju Samson sidelined due to an abdominal injury, Suryavanshi stepped in as an opener alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal during a chase of 181. The teenager immediately impressed, launching a six off Shardul Thakur on the first ball he faced.

He went on to score 34 runs before Rishabh Pant stumped him with lightning speed to bring his dream debut to a halt.

Notably, Suryavanshi was initially listed as an Impact Substitute. He turned 14 on March 27 and was bought by RR for βΉ1.1 crore during the previous IPL auction, becoming the youngest player ever to receive an IPL contract. His performances at the junior level have already made him one to watch. He struck a 58-ball century for India U-19s against Australia and scored 176 runs in the 2024 U-19 Asia Cup, averaging 44. He also holds a triple-century to his nameβan unbeaten 332 in the Randhir Verma U-19 Tournament in Bihar.
