Delhi Capitals maintained their unbeaten run in IPL 2025 with a six-wicket win over RCB as Vipraj Nigam impressed with the ball and Virat Kohli was seen mentoring him.
Delhi Capitals’ young allrounder Vipraj Nigam was seen having a conversation with Virat Kohli after DC’s commanding six-wicket victory over Royal Challengers Bengaluru in their IPL 2025 clash. The win marked Delhi’s fourth consecutive triumph this season, keeping them unbeaten and firmly at the top of the points table.
Vipraj has been in the spotlight ever since he and Ashutosh Sharma pulled off a stunning comeback in Delhi’s opening match of the tournament against Lucknow Super Giants. His recent performances have only strengthened his reputation as a rising star.
On Thursday, the leg-spinner delivered another crucial spell, picking up two wickets while conceding just 18 runs in his four overs. Among his scalps was the prized wicket of Virat Kohli. After the match, Vipraj was seen visiting the RCB dressing room, where he had a serious conversation with Kohli, a moment that drew attention on social media.
The turning point of the match came through the spin duo of Kuldeep Yadav and Vipraj Nigam, who helped Delhi bounce back and restrict RCB to a modest total of 163/7 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
Left-arm wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav returned with figures of 2/17, while Vipraj matched him with 2/18. Both adjusted their lengths cleverly on a pitch that offered some grip and slowed down as the game progressed. Their efforts dragged Bengaluru’s innings into a slump after the hosts got off to a flying start.

Delhi’s decision to bowl first initially looked questionable as RCB raced past the 50-run mark in just three overs. England’s Phil Salt led the charge with a quick-fire 37 off 17 balls, smashing Mitchell Starc for 24 runs in the third over alone.
However, Salt’s knock came to an abrupt end due to a mix-up with Kohli. The duo had added 61 runs off just 24 balls for the opening partnership before Salt was run out in a “yes-no” call situation with Kohli, who scored 22 off 14 deliveries.
The momentum shifted when Vipraj was introduced into the attack. He gave away just two runs in the fifth over, followed by a tight over from pacer Mohit Sharma. The pressure of dot balls built up, forcing Devdutt Padikkal (1) to attempt a release shot. However, his mistimed effort landed safely in the hands of Axar Patel at the edge of the circle.
